Giclée Print Care Tips

Treat your print as though it were an original piece of art.

Giclée prints, whilst designed to last many years, are delicate and must be handled with care.

Top Tips

1. Wash hands

Before handling, wash your hands thoroughly with soap and water, or wear gloves.

👉 The natural oils from your skin can leave behind permanent oily marks.

2. Clean work area

Thoroughly clean your work area and/or your choice of mount before unwrapping your print.

👉 Residual dust or grit can leave permanent scratch marks.

3. Unroll with care

Unroll delicately onto a flat surface.

👉 Even light impact (e.g. from fingernails or mounting materials) can cause permanent dents.

4. Flatten

Flatten your print before mounting. Cover with the printed side up using the included acid-free tissue, then weigh down each corner and leave for 12-24 hours.

👉 Use weights that don't have sharp edges (books are ideal).

5. To clean

If necessary, dust the print lightly with a dry, lint-free or microfibre cloth.

👉 Never apply water or other cleaning products to the print.

6. Don't ever

Don’t bend, fold, apply moisture or iron your print.

It will never recover!

Poster hanger tips

1. String at back

The strung hanger piece always sits at the back of the print.

2. Align evenly

Make sure each hanger is evenly aligned, with the print filling the entire area of the hanger.

The edge of the print should be just visible along the terminating edge.

3. Hang smart

Hang away from open windows or heavily trafficked areas.

👉 Wind or a physical knock could dislodge the print from the hanger, causing damage to the print.

4. Extra tip

For extra protection, add some light double sided tape to the strung hanger piece, attaching it semi-permanently to the top-back side of the print.

👉 Note, this could cause damage to the back of the print should you decide to re-mount it at a later date.
